Halfway down the gearstick, what looks like at metal drill bit adjustable stop. The previous owner had no idea why it was there, and I thought no more of it. However looking at a Minor for sale on ebay the other day, there was another one, it looked just the same.
Just a coincidence or is there some other reason. (hope the picture comes out)[frame]Image[/frame]

I suspect its for a Stoplock anti-theft lock. One ends goes rounf the gearstick, the other covers the handbrake. I suspect a previous owner has forgotten to remove it. Hope this helps.

That's definitely what it is, I can't remember the name of the product.

Thats it. Autolock is the trade name. Quite a neat little device, I used one for many years till I lost the keys for it then it took me about 10 minutes to remove it with no damage so I could drive home. After that I didn't bother, though it may deter the casual thief....

Yep, I've got one of these. I like it, takes half a second to put on and take off. The lock on it is probably better than the door lock, considering you could probably break into the car with a paper-clip/rock and drive off I always put it on. Need to get arround to installing a kill switch...
