seat belts

hi all i put my morris traveller in for MOT today an it failed on not having statutory seat belts. Mine were perished so i removed them but left the bolts protruding out the holes. Can anyone tell me what other seat belts i can use. inertia for example cheers derek[frame][/frame]

If it is post 1965 it must have front seat belts fitted and would fail on damaged belts whatever the age of the car. I would recommend inertia belts

hi im at the end of this resto and the budget buckets empty so im realy asking is there any particular car i can get a pair off second hand belts[frame][/frame]

seat belts are really something you do not want to skimp on.. after all they may be called on to save your life one day

Agree with charlie_morris_minor - seat belts need to be in the best condition possible. Buying second hand is extremely risky - you have no idea if the belts you buy have been in a car that has been involved in a smash and where their strength may have had to be used. Unless, of course, you are going for concours and even then I'd worry about them.

There are plenty of after market kits that will do a fine job. Buying new means you know what the belts have had to do. You don't want to find out that the second hand ones were dodgy at the moment you need them most!

New inertia belts are about £25 per side, whereas statics less than half that.
If going for secondhand, make sure you see the car they come from. If its accident damaged, don't bother, but plenty of sound undamaged cars are scrapped these days for minor mechanical problems there's no reason why you shouldn't use them. I got a set out of a Metro a few years back in a brown/beige colour which matched the interior of the Minor van they were going in and looked really nice.
