Saw one myself on Tuesday, but for a Railton not a Minor so your record still stands!
Quite a disapointing document really, supposedly a paper saving idea so the MOT don't have to issue pre printed coloured sheets for the test station to print on.

It's a database system open and free to everyone, so a forged (bit of paper) MOT certificate is of no more use than a forged tax disc or a forged insurance certificate!

For anyone who was not aware you can also see all failures and advisories for the last few years.

May be useful when looking to buy...

Apparently the Advisories will be printed on the back of the certificate -so sellers can't lose them :D

Well - my Post Office will happily renew a tax disc from (say) 1 November with an 'MOT' that (say) expires tomorrow - but the 'online' system won't allow that - quite correctly I have to say. And also - folks selling a car would be happy to wave a paper 'MOT cert' at the prospective buyer - how many buyers will go off and check on the online database? They should of course - but how many do??
Off subject I know - but today I received a new 'red' V5c from DVLA for one of my cars - imagine the work and expense of sending out these new documents to every vehicle owner in the UK! 'Job creation program' methinks......

It's a really nice feeling doing the tax disc on line. Not only is it zero but they even post it to you free! All I need now is the new law on no MOTs for pre '65 cars and my classics are completely free! (OK, except fuel and maintenance)

Its on the same side, so only one pass through the printer. Its in landscape format so left hand side is the A5 MOT certificate and the right hand side theres space for advisories - so no loosing the yellow sheet when the car is being sold!

Yes, it'd be easy enough to print out something very similar. Guess the onus would be on the prospective purchaser of a vehicle to do an online check and see if its on the system or not....

They are called "plain paper certificates"

The vts just loads the new laser printer with plain paper! So no blank certificates for the scroates to nick, no safe required now but vosa advice to store the other stuff as you would cash on the premises
