Rear Springs
Hi All,
As usualy any help appreciated!
Last xmas i upgraded to JLH's dampner kit and took the lowering blocks out as teh tyres were scraping on the body when i hit a big undulation in the road! I must say its a better feel to the handeling of the car and no more rub.
However i do feel that ther rear could do with being a bit firmer and possibly my springs might ned replacing - i believe they are 4-5 yrs old now. From what i can find on the forum the replacement springs available at the moment are not that great and i wondered if anyone had feedback on fitting the 7 leaf spring from the traveller to a 3door, and what difference is to be expected?
Thanks
FP

more than a minor to me
Re: Rear Springs
If I had a powerful Saloon - I would definitely have the Traveller springs on it. They are by no means 'hard' springs.
Re: Rear Springs
You may want to refit your lowering blocks - with 7 leaf Trav springs. If you do find them a bit too hard - you can always take out the short bottom leaf...

I put the 7-leaf Trav springs in my 2-door. A great improvement!

Re: Rear Springs
When I bought my Series MM the original 7 leaf springs were almost on the bump stops, but the cornering was excellent. I replaced the worn springs with Traveller springs, not appreciating the difference. They jacked the back end up and the back of the car developed a nasty habit of trying to overtake the front on roundabouts, oversteer I think they call it. Having got to about 90deg on one roundabout I decided to replace them with later 5 leaf springs which corrected the nasty handlingmike.perry wrote:I took the 7 leaf Trav springs off my 2 door. Re: Rear Springs
Ah, that makes sense! My original 5-leafers had pretty much lost interest in life, so the Trav springs (which happened to come in the boot when I bought the car, along with poly bushes) livened things up considerably.
