hockey stick fixings

having ha cause to remove the front panel and thus the hockey sticks, the small studs that are screwed into the back of the hockey sticks have come out with the little nut still screwed tight on.
how can i remove the nut from the stud without damaging the thread?

You can use a vice to hold the stud and wind the nut off, or just keep the nut where it is an use a washer or two between nut and wing when refixing the hockey sticks.

if you can find 2 nuts that fit the stud (if any have come off the other studs, or failing that 2BA or new ones take M5's) then you can do two nuts up together.

hold the stuck nut in a vice, and turn the stud with a spanner on the bottom nut (the nut nearest the stuck one). just like winding studs out of an engine block or cylinder head. simple!

if the nut won't budge, apply a bit of heat, or penetrating oil... but not both

Then refit with brass nuts so they don't get stuck again, but in reality you don't need to remove them - just wind the stud back in as mentioned above....

I wouldn't bother, my nuts were on so tight I broke the studs on the three I tried.

on more than one occasion have i suffered that problem with my car. lol.

ill have a fettle tomorrow and get something sorted.

If you plop some copper grease on the threads you will always get them undone in the future

didnt think about the copper grease before, but its a good idea and a very messy one as well (as i found out)
