Re: mk2 vw golf insurance
hi thousands from what i've heard from friends with teenage sons, one even got a 1000 cc moggie for her son which allowed her 18 year old to drive for £700 third party insurance
after being quoted over two grand for a fairly basic modern motor

Cheers Alex

Different companies will give different prices, so who knows. One of you needs to phone them-------sit down when doing it though!!!!

Go to a price comparison site and see what that turns up. Get quotes for both comprehensive and third party insurance - the former can be cheaper. I got a quote for a Rover P4 from gocompare.com - the cheapest comprehensive quote was about £190, the cheapest third party was £7,500
.
Also ring round classic insurers and see what they'll offer. Age-wise, a Mk2 Golf will probably be on the borderline of what many classic insurers will cover. Some will also only cover drivers over 21 or 25.
If you can't get classic insurance then I suspect it'll be stupidly expensive, especially given that it's an easily nickable hot hatch.

If the car is standard and unmodified (I suspect it isn't
) you may find the classic insurers will cover it.

Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
