Can anyone tell me the cheapest, easiest, safest method of transfering small amounts of money from abroad, in payment for merchandise, and how do I go about it?

Paypal. You just need an email account and you can set yourself up. Later, tie the Paypal account to your bank account and transfer the money either way - Simples !!
Its also free to send / receive money as long as you are not paying for an ebay auction win....

Yes PayPal - but I suggest NOT tying it directly to your Bank Account - just in case. It works fine through your bank Debit card and you keep control. And yes, it's free to send someone a 'gift'. Obviously if you do that regularly, and for odd sums (ie not nice round numbers) - they may query it. It can then become quite expensive. Certainly keep away from eg Western Union et al....

When transferring as gift to someone from your bank you need to pay some sort of fee but if its from the funds already in your account its free,

If buying something from someone via gift means if anything goes wrong then your not covered via PayPal so I advise paying for something as goods unless you really trust the seller so if anything goes wrong then you can claim the money back..

Thanks for the info. I sometimes send Series MM parts/regalia abroad and I am trying to keep the costs to the customer low.
I am normally dealing with people I know so I can trust them to pay.
