Pristine Original 1960 Moggy Help needed

My father has had this car for years, it really was driven by an old lady to the shops. 17K Miles on the clock.
This car is pristine. It has had NO reno work etc done to it. It isn't needed.

My problem is my father discovered he is terminal and hasn't long. He is panicing over paying for his funeral.
He wants to sell the Moggy to pay for it. The family is mortified, we want to try to get a valuation and perhaps borrow against the car so it stays in the family.

All rubbers, seals etc are as they should be. Interior is immaculate. Original rubber matting looks brand new.
All places that show age and wear, don't.

I will update this post with more technical info when my son arrives home but was curious as to wether anyone here could help us.

I am very sorry to hear that Woohzal.

If your car was actually built in 1960 it would be a Morris Minor thousand with a 948 engine. If the car really is in good condition it could easily be valued at around £4000, however that is only a bench mark. If your car is in really original condition it could easily be worth more. I am sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

All the best.

Will

To be worth that amount the vehicle would need a valid MOT for 12 months.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your Dad.
Is it possible that the members of the family who are worried about the Minor can club together and raise the value of the car and give your dad the money?
It would be a worry off his mind but I would imagine the Minor is the least of his worries.

Don't borrow against the value of the car, these car value loans are a spratt to catch a mackerel, you will end up paying back far more than the cars real worth, these companies are not covered by F S A (financial services autority) regulations at the moment, so they are like loan sharks instead of paying bank interest rates you would be likely to pay 100 of % interest, please don't do it, i know it's hard but raise the money some other way, i'm sorry to hear about father.

Tell you father not to worry, and that "the family" will see to his funeral when he has gone. This should put his mind to rest for the time he has left - let's hope it's as long as possible. Many funeral directors do stage payments. Just enquire.
