Hi all,

Can the hinges on a traveller rear doors be adjusted? I thought they might have off set cams inside or something, I need to move the doors in a little bit.

Thanks and regards,
Eric.

There is no adjustment, but there are ball shaped cones inside (if that makes sense, they are not ball bearings in the conventional sense) and when these get worn, the doors drop. Easy to fit replacements. Beyond that, the adjustment comes from the woodwork being worn, allowing the doors to be moved slightly when the retaining bolts are loosened, but it's not very effective.

If you want to make the door join down the centre closer, what I had to do was put some strips of rubber under the hinge on the outside edge. It closed the central gap by over 2 inches! If you use some black rubber and shape it to the hinge it doesn't notice.

I lifted the doors by putting flexible plastic washers under the balls - can't be seen and make the door action very smooth. Are you sure the gap isn't down to the bodyshell opening out........... Otherwise - slacken the bolts slightly - and ease the doors together and tighten the bolts again.... I suppose you could remove the hinges - plug the bolt holes with solid wood - and then redrill new holes slightly nearer the centre of the cars.
