Brake cylinder bolt sizes

Post by harbous »

Could anyone tell me the correct size of the small bolts that attach front brake cylinders to the backplate - none of my spanners seem to fit the smaller of the pair ? Car is 1971 traveller. any advice appreciated. steve

There seem to be a number of different sizes - it is a 1/4" UNF thread, so 'should' have a 3/8" AF head - but I have seen seemingly metric headed bolts in there. It's an idea to just keep a little collection of small spanners in a bag - and the 'cheap' 1/4" sq drive socket sets are worth having for the variety of small sockets - just for these occasions.
