Morris Minor Owners Club

At some stage, one of the previous owners has removed the heater valve from the top of the cylinder head and replaced it with a plain pipe. I presume, judging by the cable and button under the dashboard that it should have a cable operated valve.
Can anyone tell me if this should be the straight or offset type? My car is a 1965 2 door saloon with a standard 1098 engine

Just go with the open pipe for max heater flow!

Only needed in Scotland!

Certainly is - esp this summer which has been terrible. But - I do recommend that the heater valve should be kept open all year round anyway - to cool the engine and to keep the heater circuit clear of sludge.....

The repro plain heater valves are rubbish. The original mini heater valves are much better.[frame][/frame]

No thanks. I have been cooking. Having to drive along with the windows open to stop myself dehydrating
It will be left open most of the time, just nice to have the option to shut it off.

I've never seen such an impressive "tower" of adaptors to mount the heater valve on !!

It's all to do with evolution.
The lower part was to correct the angle when I fitted the 940 head. The upper part was to correct the angle for the mini heater valve when the repro heater valve packed up only being 18 months on the car. I intend to solder up a new version which caters for both angles but too many projects on the cards at the moment.

You also need an adapter with the 1275 Midget head as the heater tap is at an angle.
