Drive Your Classic To Work Week
It's Drive Your Classic to Work Week starting tomorrow. Anybody else driving their Minor to work this week? (See page 6 of the Sep/Oct edition of Minor Matters).

Most days! I normally do
My 1956 Series 11 Traveller! Bought when I was 17 (1985)....sold 6 years (1991) later......bought back 9 years after that! (2000) With 6 different owners in the middle, what a lucky boy I am!
Re: Drive Your Classic To Work Week
I drive mine to work every day - 10 miles from here into the centre of Birmingham (and back again ).

Check your Insurance Certificate first - it may well exclude driving to or from your permanent place of work. And if you claim that you work at various sites, your usage could well be classed as "business", which is even less likely to be covered.

Re: Drive Your Classic To Work Week
Yes, I see your point! I suppose any event like this which encourages the cars that don't get used every day to come out onto the roads can only be a good thing. It promotes the use of the cars and hopefully might inspire others to buy one. And with the on-going debate about getting more "younger" owners involved with the MMOC, it should be a constructive exercise...

Kevin. Thanks for the concern, but bpr81a does have "daily business commuting" insurance from FJ. As he says "Berie" is used daily into B'ham.

Re: Drive Your Classic To Work Week
it's a car!!! - imho it should be used as one :p -- just taken mine into town in torrential rain, and off on holiday in her tomorrow. metal painted in hemmerite then several coats of underseal, and the underside painted in old engine oil, waxoil and cavity wax in the box sections. fingers crossed it'll be finebmcecosse wrote:Well - it's raining cats and dogs today - so my car(s) are very definitely NOT coming out to play......

Minors like weather (50 years ago they were out in it every day - what's changed - the weather certainly hasn't!) Just make sure the windscreen wipers work!

Re: Drive Your Classic To Work Week
My minor's already at work - in a collection of plastic boxes, bin liners and bare shell.
Oddly my 1987 modern/bland/boring Ford Escort is covered under a classic policy (no I dont get it either..). Does that count?
