Hi.
Does anyone know if there are interior kits available that contain such things as seat covers, door cards etc??

you can get all the pieces you want from most / all the usual moggy centres. they are made by newton commercial and you will be able to get the parts to match the age of your car. word of advice, sit down before you read the price! its certainly not cheap but if of high quality

ou can also order direct from Newton's and get non-stock colours or one-off trims, depending on what floats your boat. If you have their "Suffolk" seats, you can have them heated!

You know what guys i have decided to make my own.
After deconstructing one there appears to be very little to them.
Hardboard will replace the cardboard and i will use the old ones as templates.
Can order vinyl and have a sewing machine, will see how it goes.

Many of us have made our own interiors. One tip. Make sure you buy a heavy weight vinyl. Some vinyls (available from places like Dunelm etc) are simply too thin and won't stand the wear and tear of people sitting on it.

getting vinyl from Automobile trim. they hsve the best colour match and this is designed for the job.
Fairly well priced too compared to Woolies trim.

I made new panels from hardboard, using the old ones as templates but I confess that I got a local upholsterer to cover them and the seats for me. I used Wickes 'White Faced Hardboard' for the door cards as it is slightly stiffer and if you place the white side towards the door it offers better moisture resistance (although I also covered the holes in the door with clear plastic)

If you're doing it yourself you won't be able to match the vinyl welding effect of the original, so you may want to think about alternate patterns, i.e. if you can't match it then be notably different. Here's mine but there are other really good examples on these pages:

It does look good. If your going to get the interior re-trimmed, then you could get almost any modern seats done, and still look almost standard.

As I said it was done by an upholsterer rather than me, and he really did a fantastic job of it for far less than it would have cost me just to buy the standard kit materials from one of the major suppliers. We plucked his name out of the yellow pages but when talking over my requirements he just filled me with confidence through his knowledge and ideas, so I gave him relatively free reign to do the work...and it paid off.

You can't see from the photos but the material is a really good quality leather effect vinyl that should last for years.

The other good thing is that I did my little bit to employ a skilled craftsman, which appeals to the socialist in me.
