Looks like smoke grey, sorry dont know the paint code off hand! Googled and found this which is very handy, so your code is BMC BU15 or ICI 3301

Cheers, I thought smoke grey was greyer/lighter blue.
I guess it depends on light/polish/40 years of fade..etc..etc..

It's not Clipper Blue, is it? Clipper Blue is BMC code BU 14 and Smoke Grey is BU 15, so must be quite close. It could instead be Thames Blue but I think Thames Blue is too dark.

In the Colour Chart thread (http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... 30#p344478) there's a handy chart, but it looks like the colors may be a bit wrong. Scroll down and you'll see a car quite similar to this that's supposedly Smoke Grey.

Clipper Blue was my first thought too.
However that picture has been through so many different processes before I saw it that I wouldn't put any money on it.

Smoke grey was the only light blue colour offered in '67 so its almost certain to be that. Clipper is a darker (than smoke grey) mid blue (one of my favorites) from late 50s to about 63 and Thames Blue I think is a 50s colour too. Not 100% certain on those dates as thats all from memory but it's something like that..... :-? :)

There's a lot of colours in that colour chart that don't look right, wether its the age of the chart or more likely how it is scanned and then displayed on our computers I'm not sure. A lot of them look quite washed out and greyer than they should.

Ok, just checked up. Thames blue is 1950-52 and Clipper blue is '59-'61 so an F reg car is almost certain to be smoke grey if it looks light blue (if that makes sense!) unless its a Panda car in which case it could be Bermuda Blue which is a much stronger blue than Smoke Grey.
cheers

That car is definately Smoke Grey. It used to live in Solihull before being sold (about a year - 18 months ago)

Cheers everyone.
The misses has basically said she wants the car a kind-of porcelain blue. That seems close enough to her eyes to what she had in mind.
Letting her choose colour is one of the many placation devices in my persuit of constant car tinkering.

Agree, smoke grey. It has a weird tendency to look different colours in different lights. In my signature the car looks pale blue (bright and sunny). In dull light it is light grey. When I was painting it (in the garage) it had a greeny tinge to it.
