the ignition key barrel on Primrose has become very smooth, so much so that the keys regularly fall out and it can be started with a tea spoon.
Can i get a replacement iginiton switch that matches the key number of the original key? (which still locks the doors and the boot)

You can I believe get a new barrel - but I think you will be lucky to get a matching key number! Does it really matter??

not really, but i would like to reduce the amount of keys i use on the car.
currently i have:
1x door, boot,ignition
1x filler cap
1x glove box
1x krook lock

adding another one would make my key ring havier still. plus it would be nice have one key does the main bits. not one for each lock

You may find that the key is worn as well as the lock and a new key will stay in the lock. I still have the original locks afer 59 years and 266,000miles although I have replaced the ingnition key after the original kept falling out

I'd go with Mike, try a new key.
If that doesn't help another barrel can be used and made to fit the key.

Now that is a fun job for a wet afternoon!! Little bits of brass and tiny springs everywhere!

I'd do it inside personally, a bit of light filing is all it needs.

Aah, the cheating way! Put the key in and grind off any sticky out bits! You can end up with some of the tumblers not actually doing anything though! But still better than a lock that any key turns!

It is still likely to be more effective than something that can be turned with a teaspoon!
The locks only pose the slightest of deterrents, I hope Cadetchris isn't relying on them.

For added security the key number is stamped on the ignition lock face.

Right, just nip down to the local motor factor who has Minor keys .

well, it appears ill be ordering a new set of locks on monday morning, so everything will match and be teaspoon proof.
better safe that sorry i suppose

When you fit them do it so that open is up, and is locked down, then you can tell at a glance if the car is locked or not.
