SCRAP METAL

I have just spoken to the local Crewkerne police about this stolen Morris Minor below. They have said this is common particular amongst these kinds of cars and in his professional opinion it was scrap metal within 24 hours. What a sad thought. He said it was probably 1 of 10 people they know in the area who do this kind of thing and are waiting to see the CCTV footage to see
if they can be identified. He said the problem is that the justice system is so weak now that even if caught they will get off with a caution. All those with Morris Minor's please be aware that no matter how beautiful and valuable your car it is more valuable as a lump of scrap metal.

What a truly sad state our country is now in.
Our 'Castles' have become noose's around our neck and our possession are deemed worthless when taken from us .

'Beam me up' anyone..............

Surely it's for the cops to clamp down on the scrap merchants - if thieves can't get a scrappy to accept it - they won't see any point in stealing it........ I believe there is an e-petition (yes -I know.....but can't do any harm surely) on the matter.
Here tis - sign it if you can! http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/406

Signed, it's obvious that some scrap metal dealers are no better than fences for stolen goods.
There was a TV show about it a year or so ago, they took bus shelters road signs, and manhole covers to some places and got cash in hand, no questions asked!

If there is no where to sell it, illegal scrap will soon lose it's allure.

The lead has been pinched off our church hall roof about 4 times in the last couple of years and the church is on a fairly main road. Police suggested having it marked with some specail DNA water so if it is ever stolen and recovered they can trcae it. We now have a nice sign up to warn them of the fact,

It baffles me how people can risk life and limb to climb up onto a roof without any safety gear to rip the lead off.

Just after I started working in the ambulance service a guy fell off the roof of a disused school that he was nicking off and managed to land on a pointed cast iron gate, the fire service had to cut the gate apart and he went to hospital with it still lodged in him. Somehow he had managed to miss all his vital organs. He made such a mess of the gate tho.........
