Hmm.. do I report it - or do I buy it?

Might come in handy one day, in years to come, when someone offers me a minor found in a bush with no ID, or maybe one that was chucked in the scrappage scheme but the garage didnt have the heart to crush?

Shame theres no way the club can legally buy 'homeless' IDs for re-issue to people who need them - with legal background checks of course.
What would Macgyver do..?

also done -- why does the seller think that they will get away with it a second time? -- surely this sort of behavior should result in the account being terminated?

Yes, I can see the benefit of saving a Minor from the governments criminal scrappage scheme, as long as the paperwork and plate are not used to "ring" a stolen car of course!
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Agreed. I can forsee several legitimate (though not legal) uses of a 'spare' identity like that, but I certainly wouldn't trust it being sold on ebay to anyone who'll stump up £40! Far too easy for it to end up being used by thieves that way. It would indeed be nice for the club to have a 'bank' of identities that could be used to put cars declared as scrapped back on the road. However I suspect that'd be very, very illegal.

I smell a Basil!

Selling a vehicles' identity - along with both the chassis/body number plates - must be illegal, surely?

If you are about to buy a Minor, ensure BOTH the bulkhead STAMPED chassis number AND the BODY number match!!

If you have doubts to a Minor's original identity, contact me quoting ALL numbers.

Chris
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Done!

Look in his other items. I wonder if the minor bits are from this one? Pity he can't spell "handle" though in it

I bought something in error from this ebayer in June: my fault to an extent, the colour of an interior wasn't stated and I made an assumption. (it looked light blue in the picture but was actually Porcelain Green) He gave me an immediate refund after I turned up at a relative's place in Cheshire on my way back from the Holyhead ferry to collect. The car was apparently a car in good condition and it was stripped for parts - I would suggest that this is the car that the identity is from - an Almond Green 4 door. The interior was in fabulous condition. He specialises in Classic Mini parts and BMW MINIs.
