Faulty solenoid?
No previous problems operating the starter motor. I was on a run a week ago when it started being troublesome starting with only a loud click on turning the ignition. Fortunately I got home but couldn't get anymore life than a click. I started it today by pressing the button on the solenoid. All connections are solid and the battery is fully charged. Should I immediately suspect the solenoid or could it be anything else?

Re: Faulty solenoid?
That sounds as you suggest like a faulty solenoid, sometimes they will work again for a wee while and then go again completely. Thankfully they are a very easy thing to change

Too many Minors so little time.....
Re: Faulty solenoid?
Check the small wire connection to the solenoid is clean and well made - and check the solenoid is well earthed to the body.

Re: Faulty solenoid?
Thanks bmcecosse. The problem was the low tension wire. I have cleaned the terminal and now all works ok.
