just a note to say she's used every day, still runs just as well. very tough cars. after the condenser change been as good as gold. I leave the solar panel on plugged to the socket all the time. I just noticed that in the instructions it says that the panel should be taken off the cig socket when starting the car to avoid damage. does anyone do this?

Probably best to follow the instructions to avoid damage!

You shouldn't be needing a solar panel if the car is used regularly - mine are only connected over the winter period when the cars are rarely started up........

remember. its never the coil!

I have been looking at the 2.4 watt and 4.8 watt panels for camping van usage, using for charges after using night lighting etc. hence the interest in solar panels!

I am still on dynamo and like to sometimes turn off the car at lights etc, maybe causing brush wear to the dynamo, but helps the battery stay in great cranking spirit. I would expect that with dynamo, there would be less surge to worry about during cranking for the solar panel!

How long do the lights stay red down your way!!?
