Condenser?

Hi all
I may be showing my ignorance a bit here but what does a condenser do on?

It could eg condense water from vapour - or hot air-con gas back into the liquid form..... Inside the car engine dizzy it gathers up electrical energy ('condenses' it in a way!) and lets it all go when the points open - sending a surge of electricity round the coil and producing an HT spark at the plug. More often called a 'capacitor' in the electrical world - and is also used to absorb certain frequency pulses in DC circuits - and so 'suppress' radio interference.....
