Colour of Traveller registered May1959

Hi All
My Traveller registered May1959 has had all the welding completed and I would like to paint it in the original colour.
At some time it has been badly brush painted in a pale blue colour, After reading all I can find on the subject, it appears that from Feb 1959 to July 1960 there where 6 colours used, only two had the seats in Blue grey which is what appears to be in my car (it’s not the Red and not the green trim)
This leaves Smoke Grey and clipper Blue, I’ve printed out the colour chart and have found Smoke Grey but it is a bit lighter than on my car (by comparing with colour under VIN plate and bonnet bump stop)
I know that my printer might not have given me a true colour so I’m not eliminating Smoke Grey yet, the other possibility Clipper Blue does not appear on the colour chart, any help would be much appreciated.
I have added a couple of photos, (I hope  )
Best Regards

The interior back seat you show would have been fitted to either a Smoke Grey or a Clipper Blue car. My Convertible is Clipper Blue, Any help? Better daylight picture on the Home page.

As others have said can't give difinitive answer about colour, best suggestion i can make is find a bolt head with clean paint on it go to an auto paint specialist and get them to use a colour spectromiter that will give a 90-95% match failing that pop down to halfords and get them to mix up a touch in pen clipper blue is (bl code) BLBU014 or ici 3300 and smoke grey is (bl code) blbu015 or ici3301, however clipper blue usualy had a navy interior and smoke grey usualy had red. confused? Alan

Sorry - I beg to differ. According to the Car Identification details compiled by the Potteries Branch website Smoke Blue >Feb'59 had a red interior. Smoke Grey (Feb '59 onwards) always had the pale blue/grey interior. Clipper Blue ( Feb'59 - Oct'61) also always had the pale blue/grey interior. Turquoise ended Feb'55.

Hi Alan
ASL642 is correct, the Potteries Branch website has the colours of body, trim, carpets etc for most, if not all years (no carpets in mine, just rust) My seats are Blue grey so only choice is Smoke grey or Clipper blue, thanks to ASL647 I know it is not clipper blue, and he sent me on a PM details of an advert on ebay of a Smoke grey Traveller, I looked at it and straight away knew that was my colour. Proves my printer did a poor job of printing out the colour chart.
But thanks for your time, the code will be useful to order my smoke grey.
Thanks
Reg

BTW - the "he's" a "she" Note that there are 2 Smoke Greys just to confuse the issue BU15 and BU15A. I suggest you take a glovebox with you when paint matching,

Looks like mine. Clipper Blue (BU14 I think. ) Take a look at the pictures in the "Original morris minor" book. They show a clipper blue traveller.

I must admit I thought Clipper Blue, but offered both choices of colour to choose from. It depends so much on the light. My Convertible is Clipper Blue like your Traveller BU14. In my post picture it looks totally different to the picture of it on the home page.

Hi Lou and Keith
It is difficult to decide on the correct colour without looking at two vehicles taken in the same light conditions, but looking at the picture on the home page the dash looks darker than mine.
Being very cunning I asked my wife which colour she thought it was, as in the past she has proven to have more accurate colour vision than me (yes I can see the different colours of traffic lights).
She said smoke grey, so that is the colour I have ordered.
I rest my case for the defence.
Thanks everybody for all your help
Regards
Reg and of course Lynn
