After my visit to my mechanic today he informed me that the water outlet on the side of the engine can not be removed because the screws are to close to the pipe inlet. The ratchet tool cannot be fitted on the screw because it hits on the outside of the pipe inlet. Any help on how to remove it is much appreciated!

I belive you may need a different mechanic. I cannot see why he cannot get it off. I could do it for you (1000+ miles away, though ) and have done mine recently.

Maybe he has sockets (ratchets?) which are too fat and he needs ones with thinner walls?

Hey Rob, I think you are right. Either I need a different mechanic or sockets with thinner walls... or maybe I need both!

Since you've changed yours recently can you please tell me where I can find one? I got one from an online store but it's too short. It's different than the one I have on the engine. See attachment for the one I ordered. I need a longer one.

That one is for the top of the engine (if you have a thermostat), not for the side of the engine.
It might be easier/cheaper to make a new one from sheet alloy and a piece of alloy tube and get them welded locally. You can then make the outlet the right size and angle for your engine. I have some old outlets here but most will need work to be perfect. Do you know anyone who can weld aluminium? Most engine rebuilding companies have to get cyliderheads welded.

Yeah my mistake, that is the water outlet on the side of the engine. Sorry about that.

I'm afraid I don't know anyone who weld alluminium here.

Soak the bolts in Plusgas or similar and try not to break them getting them out. The threads should be Metric Fine which may be difficult to find.
Whilst we are looking at the photos can you clean the brass plate so that it can be read, then we will know what engine you have.
My bottom hose outlet is cast not alloy.

The Morris 8 ones were a mix, some iron and some alloy. Some of the 'elbows' here have the area where you can drill for a water pump (like yours). If I can find some I will take some photos. Those bolts should be metric coarse thread (Mike, can you confirm?)

Strictly speaking it is a water inlet, water flows into the engine at the bottom and out of the engine at the top. When a water pump is fitted and it is changed for a drain tap it becomes a water outlet!

Will you two stop playing poker with the water outlets? If not give me one so I can play too.. but I prefer to put it on my engine than playing poker with it! darn! hehe

The 2 that might fit are quite corroded and not any better than yours, I think. Next time I weld some aluminium I'll try to repair one of these.

After my visit to my mechanic 10 minutes ago I saw the water outlet's screws and they are not the same size. The right one is bigger than the left one. The ratchet tool he has is 16mm but the screw is somewhere between 15-16mm. The left one is between 12-13mm. Is there a specific tool for those screws??

The bolt threads are metric and the heads are 1/4 Whitworth
One of the pipes is the spare for the engine in my car in case the water pump packs up and I can convert back to thermo syphon cooling and the other is off my spare engine
