Engine kept stopping at different times I change points, Rotor arm, Fuel pump, condenser and coil ever time I changed somthing it went for a few miles. Again today it stopped on the motorway the lead from the coil to the dizzy had burnt away at the dizzy end .I was told as they were carbon it must of been shorting out, looks like the problem is now solved I now have new leads. ps got lots of good spares to carry inthe boot (points Rotor arm, Fuel pump, condenser and coil )

Personally I'm not a fan of carbon leads, give me good old copper every time.

It's well worth arranging the leads so they don't touch each other or rest on something metal.
Looking at the running engine in the dark can be very revealing, it will show up if any sparks are going astray.

It's 'never' the coil........ Well done tracking it down - yes - scrap the carbon string leads.....
