Hi,
A leak has appeared on the water circuit. The system has recently been flushed and refilled with antifreeze / coolant.
Aleak has developed from the centre pulley / fanblade pulley on the front of the engine.
I am presuming this is the water pump.
Is it any good to try the stuff thats supposed to stop leaks such as k-seal stop leak or rad weld?
As perhaps the antifreeze found the leak could in theory the sealant seal the leak or is the only solution a replacement water pump?

New water pump - not expensive. But do make sure the leak is not just from the little bypass hose - and DO fit a new one (NOT the ghastly concertina one !) anyway when fitting the new water pump.

Could you point out which bypass hose you recommend.
ESM seem to have three and Bull Motif two who would you use?
The one on the car which doesn`t look to be the leak culprit I agree it will get changed as it looks fragile is a straight pipe.
There is one kevlar and one rubber at ESM.
The car is 1963 with a 1275cc engine fitted.

Just a straight one - should last about 10 years in rubber so why worry about kevlar? Trader of your choice - whoever gives best deal!

Seem to have sorted the water leak. Changed the pump and bypass hose and all clips.
Done a 3 mile trip and no water loss.

Sounds good, which do you think was the culprit?

Any reason one could not use a piece of 1/2" heater hose for the bypass hose?

I`m still not sure if it`s right.
We`ve not had a long run yet but water levels aren`t dropping rapidly.
The bottom hose seemed to come off the old water pump too easily and thr top connection of the bypass had leaked as had a split to the jubilee clip and a show of rust around the pipe oriface.
The pump outlets were terribly corroded and looked like they could be difficult to seal.
We did a 3 mile run today and when I lifted the bonnet a quantity of water seemed to spit under the cae seemingly from the water pump area. It was a small quantity but seems odd. I can`t see where it came from and it dorsn`t seem to drip any more.
I read the post about the radiator gurgling we do seem to have a gurgling / sloshing sound as if the water is settling but it`s not severe.
I`m probably getting paranoid now and what I`m seeing could be normal.

I tried again this morning and no leak it was possibly because I overfilled the rad so I will keep an eye on the levels.
