Leaking door...

My nearside footwell is wet - now I think rain is coming down the window, into the 'inner' door and then dripping down onto the back of the door card, sliding down and then dripping onto the floor! This is what used to happen in my T25 van until I 'sealed' the second skin of the door with rubble sacks and butol tape! Now, my question is, should old Arthur the saloon have a plastic sheet already under the door card? It doesn't at the mo... but don't know if BMC ever fitted them. Thanks, Matthew

Yes, plastic sheets were fitted although the source of the leak is more likely to be door seals of windscreen seal. Washer jets and wiper spindles also leak into the footwells if not sealed.

Ah, the car is at an angle - and so although it might be leaking elsewhere too... this is also an issue: can you get new sheets? Or is it a rubble sack job?

No replacements available. Use heavy duty plastic sheeting available from garden centres. Gaffa tape it on to metal of the door, and then pierce holes in it where the door handle/window winders and the door card clips go. Also check that the 1/4 light rubbers don't leak, and the felts on the windows aren't broken/worn.

You know I think everything needs replacing - tell me, is there an illustration / breakdown of everything that should be on the door? Seals? Felts? Clips? Etc... That I can check my vehicle against?

Thanks!
