can somebody please confirm that it is not easy to get an engine from a mini/metro to fit the right way rounf in a minor.

No its not easy...
The 1st problem is that the mini flywheel fits on to a taper, and you can't just bolt the sump on either becuase of the oil seal.
Maestro engines can be made to fit, but it does involve some machining

As above -it's NOT possible......... You can't even sensibly use the block - and definitely not the crank. The cylinder head can be used - and the pistons/rods/camshaft/timing gear..........

Anything is possible BMC... its just not worth the effort/money to make it work!

Well, I'm glad I happened across this thread!
I'm in the middle of looking for a 1275 to recondition for my minor, and as far as I knew they were all the same! That's severely limited the number of engines available

That's why I said 'can't even sensibly use the block' Matt. It would be possible - just not sensible. But the crank definitely CANNOT be used!
