Indicator warning light

Post by Tes 1 »

Hi.All.I am trying to connect a dash warning light to the indicators to light up when the left or right indicator stalk is operated.the problem is that the flasher unit has 4 connectors.1 earth.1 feed.1 left side indicator and one right indicator.if i connect the warning light feed to the left side terminal of the flasher unit the warning light works fine and if i connect it to the right this also works o.k.i obviously cannot connect a wire to the left terminal on the flasher unit to the warning light and the same wire to the right as this would act like hazard warning lights.i know this may sound confusing but any help would be appreciated. Cheers. :(

The warning light comes off the flasher unit terminal P. It sounds like you are describing the flasher stalk on the column???
There are 2 ways of doing this. You can have a single warning lamp off the flasher unit or 2 warning lamps, one for each side, wired in parallel with the indicator lamps on the green/white and the green/red.

The resistance of the lamp will not allow the other side to light up - try it and see! You do however appear to have a very non-standard flasher unit - if it has 4 terminals. Normally we only have 3 - feed IN, feed OUT to the stalk selector switch - and a feed to the warning lamp on the stalk. The way you describe yours - it appears to be something different ?
