Door trim - simple question

Just rebuilding my front doors. Which way round does the soft horizontal strip at the top of the door body through which the window glass passes go?

On one long edge there is an aluminium strip through which the fixing clips go and the other edge is soft material. Clearly it will work whichever way round it is, but I have looked at 2 cars and one has the aluminium strip visible at the top and the other the soft material. My guess the soft material should be at the top with the aluminium strip at the bottom and not visible. If you know (or if you could have a quick look at your car) please let me know. Thanks. Tony

The weather strips should go velvet side up, with metal strip at the bottom, to help prevent water getting into the door. Improved rubber 'touch glass' weather strips are also now available and are supposed to be a lot better at keeping the water out than the original velvet ones.

It should go up the way Louise says, but I fit mine ally strip up simply because it looks tidier and with the gap between the glass and the strip it is not going to stop much water anyway.
