Broken speedo :(

Post by Edward.21 »

Hi all my speedo is broken, I have checked the cable it is fine and runs freely, I have also checked the plastic bit that goes into the gearbox and the shaft and cog on the other side of the plastic bit. I put it all back together and when I turn the cable with it only connected at the gearbox end there is enough resistance to stop it turning, but when I drive it the cable remains still is. this a new gearbox or am I missings something blatantly obvious any help greatly appretiated :)

So - it would appear that the drive from the gearbox is faulty then - nothing for it but to remove (the drive - not the whole gearbox  ) it and inspect! You can test the speedo using an electric drill with suitable square adapter bit - running backwards........ ie anticlockwise.
