Removing rear hubs

Once the halfshaft is removed, undo the lock washer and unbolt it, then put the halfshaft on reversed, and put the wheelnuts on, slowly tighten each one, making sure the hub is coming off, and not crushing the bearings.... makes for a good hub puller!

:) i thought perhaps the halfshaft may get damaged when doing this, you could probably use the brake drum turned outwards also though.

Does anyone have a tip for getting the hub back on though? i had to hammer it on, but was worried about the new bearings being forced out, so used the old bearings held over the new ones, and tapped it in by the bearings.
