Rear traveller door handle holes...

Hi, need to change the rear door handle on a morris traveller, but the holes for the two screws that hold it on are a little damaged, and the scres won't tighten when I get a replacement lock and handle - how can I solve this? matchsticks? Glue? I don't want to damage the holes any further in an otherwise A1 door.

PVA wood glue and an Ash plug if you can make one.
It may well be better to drill the hole out than shape a plug to fit, then drill a new hole, it gives more surface area for the glue to act on.
If both need doing, then do one at a time and use the handle as a guide to mark where the new hole needs to be.
Tap, don't bash, the plug in with a hammer

What are plasplugs? Raw plugs are they?

Very similar, Rawlplugs could be glued in and trimmed with a Stanley knife.
