Heloo, I have messaged FJ as well and am awaiting a reply but I was wondering if I cancelled my insurance for the year (6 months to go), would I get any amount of money back?
Has anyone else done this?
Thanks, Steve

Oh dear are you thinking of selling the car? Not certain (never done this) but some classic policies don't offer refunds. Ring them up?

I think the FJ policy says that if you cancel part way through the term of the policy, you should get a pro-rata refund less and admin fee.

Cancelled classic insurance on my mini cooper last year (3 months in), no money back as written in small print, robbing gits. I think it was with lancaster, check before cancelling, if you are considering another classic keep it going and transfer to new motor.

I think no refunds are a relatively common feature of classic policies. However on non-classic policies they'll frequently try and charge you some outrageous 'administration fee' which'll normally wipe out a lot of your refund anyway.

It's only pro rata using the insurance companies rata at best.
From their point of view the first day is very high risk and expensive and you get safer and cheaper to insure until the next year starts when you become a terrible liability again.

I'll see what they say. No way on this planet is she being sold! The problem is I am so in love with the car she will never be sold. Its how people see me in that car and I didn't just buy her, we brought her back on the road and she's one of a kind.
I was just trying to see what options I have, store her for the winter and a bit while I rectify things or just carry on..

If she is currently taxed and you cancel the insurance you will also need to declare her as sorn, if you don't I'm told that you are now breaking the law and will be sent a penalty notice via the post. If you can, keep her going, there will be nothing to gain from cancelling the insurance, had mine for 30 years, been off the road for about 25 of them. The big problem with taking them off the road is that they deteriate, they do need to be used and require constant TLC. I spent loads of money on mine about 10 years ago, tucked up in an intergral, warm dry garrage for the last 5 years. I recently started using mine again but needed to replace wheel cylinders, water pump, starter motor, dynamo and gearbox before I could do so.

Rarely worth canceling it - better to keep it covered all year round.. So saying - I do add my TR7 to my annual Minor policy with RH for the summer months, and they seem happy enough to do that each year (so far) for just the extra monthly payment of about the same as I pay for the Minor.

I can very higly recommend RH insurance.
When I add my morris minor to my spitfire policy it cost £54, then when I removed it 1 month later I got £53 refunded :) they are so much easier and nicer to deal with from my experience with both companies. RH all the way for me now FJ can take a running jump.

Got an email and they'll refund me £270 for my insurance but its still not worth it I guess. She'll keep going!
Naive I know but who it RH? Its just not triggering in my mind.

Thats a chunk of money to be offer you back, can't imagine how much the original amount for the policy cost, guessing your are fairly young driver, being a fossil now mine is only £110. If you do cancel will you loose your years no claim reduction for next time?
