Thread for hinge bolts?

Can anyone confirm what thread is used for the bolts that hold the door hinge to the A-pillar? One of the bolts is badly corroded and I can't get a good bolt in as a replacement, I'm hoping that the thread might be salvageable if I chase it out with a tap so what tap should I get? 1/4 BSF, 5/16 BSF.....?

Are they the bolts with the countersunk head and narrow tip?

They''ve got a narrow tip and a countersunk hex head. I should replace the bolt with a new one but plan to swap it with a good one from the passenger side for now if this works. On the bottom hinge it's got one OK bolt, one rusted bolt and one sheared off bolt at the moment -not ideal really. If I can't clean up the thread I may have to drill and tap it oversize and fit a different bolt.

Looking for a source or supplier of the door hinge bolts. I think the wife threw them out.

Thanks in advance.

yes, 5/16 BSF- all the usual suppliers sell them and will post to the USA, Bull Motif, ESM etc...

I got some from ESM once I'd run a tap through the captive nut holes. Fortunately it was the old bolts that were knackered rather than the captive nut plates.

Anyone got any tips on getting hinge pins out? I tried vice and big hammer but it wouldn't budge - well, it must have moved slightly as there's less play now but I'm sure that's not a long term fix.

Did you tap the pins the right way? there is a spline on one end, knock them out from the other end.

yes, the spline end goes in last and you therefore tap from the smooth end as the splines on the hinge pin grip the hinge.

Hello gents sorry to open old thread

About to remove my pins, so when gettin them out, I tap from the flat end of the pin, not the end with the bump on it (assuming spline and bump mean the same thing) I'm clearly a pro.....

Thanks in advance!

Just re-pinned one of my hinges , drifting out the old pin was not an easy job....even with plenty of oxy/heat , large vice and lump hammer..
Drifted the old pin out from the bottom ( splined at the top ) , drilled the hinge 21/64 , inserting the new pin was an easy job, just pressing in the last 1/4" with the vice jaws..
