Hi all, i have the rear of my traveller, i need to change the rear post, i am sure i am going to have to have the guttering, roof off to access the rear top rail and top of the post, however i would like to avoid touching the guttering if possible.
Has anyone managed to do this job properly without touching the guttering/roof ?
If you have any tips i would appreciate it.

I doubt it's possible, if you use something wide bladed and take the gutter off in little steps then you can reuse it.
I did this job donkeys years ago and I've got a feeling that there is a long screw in that area somewhere.

Getting the old post out is going to be easier than getting the new one in I think.

yes i am sure you are right, i done the wood frames on one last year and i don't think there is any getting around it, but you never know, if its got to come off so be it, i think possibly i may get away with just taking one side off, however i don't want to distort the roof, cheers all the same.

One side off is a different question, that's what I did way back then.
I replaced one side with one from another car.
For the life of me I can't remember the exact details except the roof off the donor car is expendable and the wood that's being replaced is expendable too.

With the back door off, I think you can slide the whole side up under the roof.
Don't take this a s gospel, there may easily be issues that I've forgotten.

Remove rear door and lights. Remove roof lining - there's a corner bracket partially hidden by it. Remove side window and channel to gain access to screw attaching waist rail. Remove bumper, petrol filler, boot floor, to gain access to bolts at bottom. including the bottom panel that is part of the support bar for the floor. Remove rear wing to gain access to bolts holding bottom of arch to rear pillar. IIRC, it should be a mortice and tenon joint for the waist rail, so make sure that you don't cut through something that you need. That's apart from the guttering, which is the least of your worries. In short, it's a fiddly job, and not a quick fit for a sunny afternoon. Can be done though.
