I have done a search, but its a mine field of answers,

I understand that you use etch primer on bare metal, would you use etch primer on repair panels that that have the black coating/or other painted surfaces, on them or just use normal primer.

If you a repair section with bare metal that is not accessable after welding in what use to protect the hidden side.

What thickness/gauage sheet steel would you use to make repairs sections.

Take back the black stuff to bare metal then etch primer. For bits to be welded, there is weld-through primer. For areas that can't be painted, something like waxoyl.

Metal thicknesses should be at least as thick as the original panel or one gauge thicker where possible to be on the safe side.

Typical thicknesses are floor panels 1mm (20swg), chassis rails 1.6 mm (16swg)

Taupe
