Hi,
We have a 1098 Morris Minor With a 1275 A series MG engine fitted.
The distributer has broken and I mean the casing has popped.
Which distributer do I need to fit to make it electronic ignition.

You can buy a complete new dizzy from Simonbbc or Accuspark very cheaply - and they both do electronic versions although personally I would stick with points. If it's held into the block via an adapter piece with two 1/4" bolts then you want a 45D - which is better than the original 25D (although go for that if you want it to be 'original') - if held in by a steel fork with one bolt through the fork then you want a 59D.

Thanks it`s a 25d now but sounds like a 45d will be better.
I`ve been having a nightmare with the points so I think electronic will be less hassle.
I just hope it works after all this.
We`ve got a screw on vacuum too not sure whether they fit to these.
I really hate trying to do these things at a distance.

New dizzy comes with vacuum unit. You can get an electronic conversion kit from Simonbbc for your 25D. But I can't see the problem with points.

That new 45D comes with a push on connection on the vacuum unit not the screw on type. You may need to adapt with the rubber push on fittings available from ESM.

Thanks for all ypur help. Is it possible to fit this the wrong way around, or can it only fit one way around?
I don`t want the new one 180 degrees out of sync.
Is it also not possible to replace the screw type vacuum unit onto the new distributer?

No - completely different dizzy and vac unit. It should go straight in -but some have had 'fun' getting the electronic ones wired up. I would get a new points one - but each to their own!

The car runs lovely now, no more missing and spluttering.
