just leaving about to leave London for Bristol.. but. Can't help but think I'll be over heating half way back. It's never happened before but it's stifling hot.. when is it to hot for a Morris minor?!

When the tyres melt. Take it easy and you'll be fine. Open all the windows. If the engine starts to get a bit warm then you can turn the heater on full to help disipate the heat. You'll suffer, but the car will be OK. As long as it has been serviced properly, the standard Minor has plenty of cooling in reserve. It is good practice to carry a gallon of spare water anyway. 2 lire bottles of water will fit under the boot floor to keep the boot clear. Drive gently.

You'll probably suffer more than the car will.
As long as you don't hit any major traffic jams, you'll both be fine.

we made it.. but for future reference, what are the signs of overheating (apart from clouds of steam)? rough engine.. missing beats?

The engine starts to get "lumpy" and sounds rough. Sign to pull over and have a rest Glad you made it.

Yes. Getting stuck to hot vinyl seats isn't particularly pleasant

One sign of overheating is if the engine starts to pink, as if the timing was too far advanced. If you hear this, the pull in, you may have lost most of the coolant!

pinking.. can someone explain how to notice this one!
