Hi all, bought and fitted new handbrake cables but the brake doesn't work when the lever is pulled, and they hang very low, I know there are screws attached that look like they bolt the outer sheath to somewhere underneath the car, but where? without this the whole cable moves instead of just the cable. thanks

In the very corners, inside the car, under the capet.where the transmission hump meets the rear heel board ( at the base of the rear seat, forward edge ) you will find a hole either side.Pop the threaded section through and do up the washers and nuts
from inside the car.Asemble with some copperease or grease
I'm assuming that you have done up the guide plates, on the side of the transmission tunnel, just behind the handbrake position, where the exposed cables go through ?

hi, thanks for the answers, the car was stripped when I bought it, never owned one before so kind of like making a jigsaw puzzle without the finished picture!

Ahh -well the advice above is fine. But - be sure to get the rear brakes all sorted out BEFORE you connect/adjust the cables.

Which panels are the holes for the cables on? ie. in the floor pans, transmission tunels etc. I will be cutting the old floor pans out and fitting new half panels from ESM soon. cheers

Heres a pic from my traveller the hole is just above and to the right of the mole grip jaws, theres one on either side of the transmission tunnel.
