replacing caliper on disc brake
Many years ago I had my front brakes converted to disc brakes (Morris Marina), one of the calipers now needs replacing and I am having difficulty obtaining one. Any ideas? Catherine

ebay is your friend http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MORRIS-MARINA-FRO ... 45fb557551 Plenty of repair kits there too, and new ones - but a bit more expensive....... I would change BOTH calipers if one is giving problems now.

If you are only looking for one then speak to Jlh minors, i know he could only find one when i was looking for a pair, may be worth a bell

If you don't fancy the repair kits yourself, there are plenty of places that will recondition callipers, just post them off and get back what looks like a new pair. Slight problem if you need to drive the car, so it might be worth getting a spare pair from a scrap yard / ebay and then send off whichever is in most need of attention.

I think the main suppliers operate a surcharge scheme so you can order a pair and return the old ones when you've swapped them over. That is what I have done in the past.

You can buy 'seal' kits and new pistons for them on ebay. I have the marina disc brake conversion too.
The old pistons are chrome plated and if it chips or corrodes, fluid passes by.
It was recommended to me that I coated the inner rubber seal with 'Red rubber grease'.
The reason for this, is that one of my new seals failed. A 'marina man' gave me the tip on the grease. (ebay)
Although, if you buy a pair of new callipers, it will be much easier fix and maybe more piece of mind.
