advice needed first time buyer

Post by colsnr »

Im about to buy my first Morris Minor, what should I be looking for in a very good condition vehicle.
General advice needed for when I view a car.
Will I get something decent for about £3,000?
I dont have a garage so am I wasting my time buying something decent because its gonna be parked outside?

My location is Liverpool, If I need future work doing where is the nearest experienced morris minor garage?

Thanks

you need to get something which is structurally sound. mechanicals are comparatively cheep/easy.

don't just go for something 'cos it's shiny. many shiny cars are rotten underneath!

get someone to have a look with you if possible. points to look out for include spring hangers etc etc.
take a fridge magnet to check for filler.
also, underseal is often used to disguise rot. have an inconspicuous poke :p

i recommend to buy 'the buyers guide to the morris minor. published by veloce.

Hi - welcome to this site. There's a Sticky at the top of General Discussion which is a useful guide when considering buying your first Minor. We have a Merseyside Branch of the MMOC. Contact Peter Davies (Liverpool) 0151 seven22six0076. He may be able to put you in touch with a member who could go with you when inspecting a car.
