traveller sill details?

Hi all,

4 days ago a bought a traveller and all though it has a full 12 months mot and tax it needs all the wood and the sills (sills need re-doing properly).
I have been round the car with a needle gun and found the usual rust so going to do a full body rebuild. I disconected the back end to get access for replacing the undersills (and whatever else I find) but theres not much left metal wise behind the doors (under the wood that runs along side the rear of the sills).
I was wondering if any one happens to have a picture or two of this rear sill area so I can figure out what to remake and what to buy?
A pic of an original car with no rot in that area would be great!

Sounds like a lot of work needs doing - most travellers with a brand new MOT wouldn't usually need a full wood replacement & body rebuild

Hi

Im just about to do repairs in that area so keep an eye out on my Rose Taupe restoration thread.

Heres a picture of an original car with the timber removed. Its just as it should be other than a small amount of rust!!!!

You can just see the sill inner reinforcing panel through the rectangular hole, this is often left off when people restore and is the same panel as used on the original convertable tourers.

Yes most would not, but when the repairs are mid 1980s cover sills (in other words hide the rust! ), and a few other dodgy patches it just keeps the MOT man happy, but not the poor fool who wants to put it right .

Had a good look today and decided I'm going to do the full X member too.

I promised myself I would never restore another car, I used to do it as a job (got about 45 full restorations under my belt including 3 Minors), oh well, here we go again!
