timing up a 1275 marina engine

i have a 1275 marina engine which needs to be timed up. starting with the distributor, which is a electronic distributor. so was just looking for a bit advice please.

Drop the distributor in such that the rotor arm is pointing at No.1 with the timing marks roughly line up.
You can always shuffle the leads around if the advance retard fouls something.
Then just set it static to start with, 5 degrees BTDC should be enough to get it running.
Then the usual applies, not pinking when the engine is under strain.
