Hi all, can anyone help a novice.....
Indicators work fine (64 Traveller) until you press brake pedal when they stop!!!!??? Have cleaned and checked the earth place just inside back doors but with no luck. Can anyone suggest where to start looking please.
Steve.

Check all the connections to the rear lights, what about the tail lights? I still think that it is a bad earth connection

If you are sure the earth point is okay then take the light units apart and see if there is any damp or corrosion in them or the bullet connectors.
My money would still be on an earthing problem though.

Ditto the earthing issues. I had exactly the same. Where I kept my lead replacement in the back eventually knocked the bullet connector out of the earth point. Pushed it back in and hey presto.
If all else fails replace your flasher can. They're only £5! After 4 days not earthing properly mine kicked it. it may have been an unlucky coincidence, but the timing was suspect...

Hello Steve,
while earths are the most common fault, also do a check on the fuse and fuseholder to ensure a good connection. I don't believe in the shotgun approach of replacing components hoping for a cure, do a proper assessment first. For earthing problems , in lieu of a meter, use a length of wire connected at one end to the battery earth and the other as close to the components' earth point as possible. This is very quick and effective.

Hi to you all, thanks for your help on this matter. I have, I think, got it sorted, I think but am not sure that it may have been the fuse connecters which I pulled off and on a couple of times. I had also just swapped it to negative earth so I suppose that may be possible problem?!?! I have been out for a bout 30 miles to day in the rain and it all seemed to work ok.
I have another question if you can help?
I have swapped to neg earth so I can fit a radio. I was going to get the power by finding a live wire off the ignition side of somewhere But where??? Any suggestion would be a big help.
Many thanks, Steve.

Best to take it from the fused ignition supply - at the fusebox. Green wire. But DO run another lower value (5 amp?) in-line fuse in the lead to the wireless. Have you also taken care to clean or renew the points in the dizzy and the fuel pump, after swapping the polarity?

You should do so when changing polarity - to prevent problems down the road ...........
