Original LCV Chassis - ACA 5339

I realise that there may be some who read this that will accuse me of gloating but, this is nit the case, I'm just sooooooo blink'in happy.

I'm collecting parts for the restoration of a late Austin Pick-Up and, I should say I'm stil after many items, however, this is a tale of one of those passing comments that turned into fruition.

While on a business trip I got talking with a chap and who also has a classic car interest, got talking about my current restoration whereby he asked the question, would you like a chassis, I know a chap that's got a chassis hanging up in his shed.
Being inquisitive, I said 'Aye' I'd be inteested to take a look, not really thinking it would amount to anything!

So, details were exchanged and a suitable time arranged to visit.

It turned out the gentleman had a whole load of cars, gathering dust in many different sheds. There hanging from the rafters tied up with some old rope was an LCV Chassis. Upon close inspection, it was in excellent condition and had the umbers ACA 5339 stamped on the side. After having the part numbers confirmed by our friends from the LCV Register, it was confirmed that I had actually discovered a New Old Stock original LCV Chassis.

I'm not going to state the price, although it was a blinkin good buy, but it's taken a futher 3 weeks to finally get it home to my premises, arriving yesterday (17th June 2011). Decisions, decisions now! My original chassis was repaired including, shotblast, welded, checked for alignment, zinc primed, and freshly painted and, has suspension assembled, I was planning to use it.

Dilemma, use N.O.S Chassis or Repaired and partly assembled chassis? Maybe I should hang the new one on the barn wall and look at it?

As this is probably a once in a lifetime discovery for me, 'The time I discovered an original NOS LCV Chassis' a story to tell the Grandchildren.!!!!

Wait 'till you find a NOS cab and sides, then use it.
Or failing that, sell it to me!!

If I were to find them, I'd also do the lottery numbers that week as well.!!
