irritating squeaky thing...

Post by ashleywakeling »

Its me again...

sorry to be of a nuisance, finding all these little problems (teething i would say) as im within my first 1000 miles :)

my offside wheel has an annoyance tendancy to squeak with a very high pitched noise when i hit any bump or ditch (especially potholes here in KENT) in the road. It doesnt happen if the hole or raised part is smooth ish and it has to be atleast an inch in change. As if its the shock absorber... :S Its NOT the suspension because ive stood on the bumper and bounced up and down, had the wheels balanced yesterday (has done nothing), checked wheel nuts, theyre fine. kind of shtuck.... :( heeeeeeeeeeelp!

Grease everything - and check the mounting bolts for the front damper. Does the car happen to have polyurethane bushes in the suspension? Could also be worn rubber bushes at the eyebolt mount (if not poly) and there is metal to metal contact there.

I don't think its that uncommon.. lots of grease, and i was told by a classic's mechanic to douse the joints with wd40 on the wheel setup within the front bonnet. give it lots of bounce when you do all of that and it should get worked in. fixed my problems.. now i can here the other squeeks much clearer. I really should get round to tightening up all the interior trim screws!
