Gauge kits

Hi, im a new member and have been reading the tech tips, can anybody reccomend a temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge kits that fit straight on, my knowledge on minors is small, but im learning fast,

Welcome to the forum! None of the gauges 'fit straight on' - they all need an element of mechanical ability to fit them. I strongly urge you to get mechanical (ie not electrical) gauges - and the older Smiths Gauges with black faces tend to be more suited to the age of the car than some of the modern stuff sold by eg Minispares etc.

The best gauge to fit is the combined water temp / oil pressure gauge as fitted to MG Midgets. Early gauges deg f, later deg c, lastest HNC. A bit pricey though.

beware - they are often sold secondhand because the Temp part is not working.......

If you go for mechanical gauges then you will need to be careful to not bend/break the capillary tubes. Electrical gauges are a lot more forgiving, and the wires fir through a smaller hole too. However, each to their own, the choice is yours. JLH have fitted some very nice white gauges to some of their vehicles.
