Marina hub torque

Does anyone know the values the nut needs to be torqued up to? Or the values others have found worked at least?

If it's taper roller bearings with no spacer in the middle - then the nut is just taken up until all 'play' is eliminated, and the hub still spinning round nicely - and then locked there with a new split pin.

ON my minor the instructions were 5lb/ft I think and it did say there should be some free play 1/4in? As BMC says the wheel should spin easily with no tight spots.

Ok thanks, i will do them till there is no free play. When i have fitted the calipers the pads seem to be sitting/rubbing on the disc. I know in drums there is a return spring so this does not happen, but what do disc brakes have in order to stop them dragging? (btw this is with the whole kingpin assembly still off the car)

Nothing - they rely on the slight run-out of the disc to push them clear - but not too clear. I have heard some suggest that the caliper seals help to pull the piston back - but I don't believe it for an instant. This of course is why it's v important to take the top-hat seal out of the mastercylinder.

If this is an Owen Burton Marina Disc Conversion then the instructions state that there should be some free play and not to take out all the play as it can wear out the bearings quickly...
I have some instructions somewhere if you want them or I think they may have been posted previously.

Thanks, they have indeed and it says to tighten until there is resistance, then take back a 6th of a turn I will go by the manual if there is no major objections.

From memory mine was something like tighten to 5lbs of torque whilst spinning wheel. Back off nut then tighten back up hand tight. Then undo nut a 'split ping hole' on the castle type nut cover. Easier to do than it sounds but best stick to your instructions.
