hi there, would anyone be interested in this, a 59 2 door saloon converted to convertible, ; the storey so far; bought this as a running 2 door saloon in clarendon grey from birmingham,,,,,,,,,drove it home and started to check it out, amazingly the car had never seen a welding torch. took it to local mm dealer tom roy, and chris valued the car as it was at 2500, and was going to but it there and then. decided i wanted to convert it, as having removed the sill kick plates discovered the car structurally was mint, so set about stripping it.removed the origional 803 engine and box, [sold to tom roy ].removed all interior and sent it away for recovering.got it to welder and he made special sill strenghening plates from good metal , not the thin panels you buy. fitted all plates as required to an excellent standard this was the only time the car has seen a welding torch, in fact the chap who welded the plates in commented he had never seen one quite like it.the roof was then removed, and the correct panel fitted to the front window header. during the time the car was away, i scourced a 1275 midget engine that was fully reconditioned in north wales 450.00.and got a geear box 1098, and an uprated axle.when the car came back, all panels were removed and was then sent to the paint shop, and a beautiful job was made of it in the origional colour, inside and out. this was october last year,on return of the car from paintshop, all suspension was removed, front an rear and refurbished with new parts as required.brakes were all done including master cyl and new pipes. in december we had to move house so the car was put together very quickly to a movable state and put into storage, wings and doors fitted temporarily for moving and engine and box dropped in. the car now needs putting back together properly, parts bneeded to finish are , newhood cover rear lights ,new door rubbers etc and a few misc bits and bobs, as you can imagine i have spent a fortune on this car plus of coarse the purchase of it, but time and other commitments aree against me at present, so if someone is interested in finishing it i may sell, but it would have to be a very sensible offer. otherwise it will stay there for a year or so until i find the time to finish it, any questions you can either email or phone me 07725836352,i will try to add some photos , many thanks for reading[frame]
