Help to replace top part of hinge on bonnet

Hello

One of the bolts that attaches the top half of the driver's side bonnet hinge (the bit attached to the bonnet and not the body) has sheared off and I would like to replace that part of the hinge. Can I leave the hinge in situ, remove the pin that holds the two parts of the hinge together (do the same on the new one I will buy), unbolt the remaining intact part from the bonnet and bolt the new part back on? How can I safely get the pin out and will I get the pin back in again? I read in other parts of the message board that getting the whole hinge off is a bit of a nightmare! :-?

Thanks

Jonathan

Never seen it done that way - just swap the complete hinge. Although if you take the hinge off the bonnet and angle it up - it should be simple enough to get the broken stub out and fit another. That's what I would be doing!

Thanks for that. Perhaps I will give it a go.

Remove the glove box to get access to the end nut and cover the wing and get someone to support the bonnet whilst replacing the other two nuts. Remember that the hinges are handed.

Be careful, if you drop anything it may vanish into the A-post so tie a piece of string onto any tools used. Which reminds me that I must try and fish out my 9mm spanner.
