marina transplant

Help.
Straight in with both feet here and looking forward to it.

I have now found a 1300 Marina coupe which I intend to use as the donor for my 59 Moggy.

Can you boys tell me which parts I can use, ( brakes, suspension and drive train) and which parts I will need to get for the conversion.
Can the rear axle be used for example.
I have read loads of posts but few give the source of supplies. I would also like to add a bit more horsepower to the 1300 lump....... anyone got the bits ????.
Machinings not a problem as I have an small engineering company.

With a few machined or supplied parts to match you can use:
Engine
Front brakes
Rear axle

Buy Owen Burtons book Marina to Minor, its not perfect but has most of the info you need.

...completely not worth the effort ;-)

If you are going to tune the 1300 you will need a better gearbox. If you are going to leave it pretty standard, you can get away with the 1098 gearbox. Most people go for a 5 speed Sierra box when using a tuned 1300.
The club magazine has adverts from all kinds of Minor Specialists - it's worth every penny especially if you are going to start shelling out on stuff like gearbox fitting kits.

Hello

I am in the US and have a69 Minor traveler that has I believe a marina transplant. no tappet covers Direct spin on oil filter pointing up to rear of dizy. Does this sound like a marina? This engine is unheard of in the US oil filters uniavaliable they are a smaller mounting size. Where could Owen Burtons book be purchased? Thanks

That sounds like Marina or Ital (later version of Marina but is an updsated A-seris called A+)
It will be worthwhile to tell the difference as some parts will be different - The dizzy on the Ital engine should be held on with a one bolt fork shaped clamp. On the Marina it is on a 2 bolt clamp holding it to the block.

Hi Will if you want a copy of Owen Burtons book contact the bath centre they should also be able to supply you with oil filters

You can also use the pedal assembly, master cylinder etc., using a fabricated box from Owen Burton, which has to be welded on.

I personally think these look awful though and you have to cut;-

1) a hole in the bulkhead and

2) a slot out of the bonnet cross-bar

AND

Torsion Bars (stiffer than standard Moggie ones), again using adaptors from Owen Burton or machine up some bits as necessary.
